Belle Maison Restorations
This identity redesign captures the incredible depth of France’s design heritage without resorting to pastiche, celebrating craftsmanship through a nuanced visual language. The typography is bold yet idiosyncratic, echoing the characterful forms of seventeenth-century lettering whilst maintaining twenty-first-century standards of legibility. A palette of rich ochre, chartreuse, and midnight blue – offset by ‘gilded’ accents of cornflower yellow – draws inspiration from period-appropriate furniture and upholstery, lending depth and warmth. The art direction focuses on material surfaces, highlighting the intricate patina, weaves, and carved details that define each restored piece. A recurring feature is the hand-drawn 'maison' motif, an instantly recognisable brand mark which incorporates the fleur de lis.
